The way forward

This is it: the first all-electric car ever to be available in New Zealand. It uses no petrol and has zero emissions while driving. It’s a giant leap beyond a hybrid and it’s the model that other vehicles will inevitably follow. It has already won the Environment Special Prize at the 2010 International Automobile Festival in Paris.

Embracing tomorrow today

The i-MiEV is more than simply a statement of achievement. It’s a vehicle you can live with and drive every day. It comes with everything you’d expect from a modern car. There are six airbags, hands-free BluetoothTM and a smart, modern presence. And all you need to recharge is a power point.

In fact, i-MiEV is the perfect vehicle for around town. It’s compact, very manoeuvrable and more than holds its own when pulling off from the lights, or darting into a parking spot.

Better still, the i-MiEV is covered by Mitsubishi's industry leading Diamond Advantage Warranty.

The big difference

Electric motors and batteries are nothing new. But adapting them for the needs of a car certainly is. In a joint venture with Lithium Energy Japan, we’ve done it. The Lithium-ion batteries in i-MiEV are high energy density, which means they’re small, but very powerful. You won’t see them, you certainly won’t hear them, but 88 of these batteries sit beneath the passenger area as you drive.

Goes the distance

Building a viable electric vehicle isn’t enough. It has to deliver what you need from a car, and more. Which is why i-MiEV has a range of 160km when fully charged and will easily travel at motorway speeds. In fact, the electric motor will propel i-MiEV at up to 130km/h.

4-star safety

i-MiEV is also smart on safety, using an integrated system of active and passive features, such as airbags, a rigid body shell and clever handling technology for more confident road-holding.
