Newly retired and with more time for fishing, Clarke Wilkes made a point of purchasing his annual fishing license plus a new rod from 'Ballingers' Hunting & Fishing New Zealand in Christchurch. Not only did his new rod prove lucky on the big browns in the lower Selwyn, but his purchase ended up hooking the keys to a brand new Mitsubishi Challenger GLS.
'He's been on a bit of a winning streak lately' his wife Pam said as he had recently won a competition to go and watch the V8's race across the ditch. It was an easy decision for Clarke to try his luck again by this time entering into a draw to win his choice of one of three Mitsubishi 4WD vehicles in the shopping prize competition run across the country by Hunting & Fishing New Zealand. For winning store owner Cameron Moore, it was just another high point since the store was expanded and relocated into the brand new premises at Tower Junction less than a year ago.
'The competition was hugely popular across the country with 34,060 entries nationwide. Mitsubishi's got an extensive 4WD range so giving one away was a very desirable prize for our customers. These rugged 4WD's are the sort of vehicles our customers use on a daily basis to get into the New Zealand wilderness' said Cameron Moore. For the first time, customers had to record their own competition entry details back home online, but the reward of such a great prize proved well worth the effort.
The new Mitsubishi Challenger is certainly a big catch. The combination of a powerful 2.5L DID Turbo Diesel Engine, 3,000kg towing capacity, rear differential lock and Mitsubishi's renowned Super Select 4WD system means Clarke now has a new tool in his tackle box to get to his favourite and most remote fishing spots.
