Mitsubishi’s centennial year marked by celestial phenomenon

Two milestone events coincide as Mitsubishi Motors celebrates a century of innovation.

On August 22 New Zealand Standard Time (NZST), North America experienced a spectacular total solar eclipse and, to celebrate the launch of its Eclipse Cross CUV, Mitsubishi live streamed the event for viewers across the globe.

As the spectacle unfolded, cameras – set up just outside of Salem, Orgeon – captured striking images of the two eclipses in the same shot.

“This was an exciting and innovative way to help celebrate Mitsubishi Motors’ centennial anniversary and the launch of the new Eclipse Cross,” said general manager of vehicle sales and marketing, Dan Cook.

“As a global brand, we are always looking for unique and entertaining ways to engage with our customers and I’m sure there will have been some interest generated in New Zealand. We are certainly looking forward to introducing Eclipse Cross to these shores early next year.”

“The arrival of Eclipse Cross will further strengthen our range and provide a compelling new offering for Kiwi motorists, contributing also to our sales target of 10,000 vehicles for the financial year. We are already well on track to achieve that, which will be a very pleasing way to mark Mitsubishi’s 100-year milestone.”

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will go on sale in New Zealand in early 2018. Additional images of the eclipse/Eclipse event can be seen via the hashtag #totaleclipsecross on social channels.
