New-generation Outlander. Outstanding.
Mitsubishi’s Outlander is one of the big success stories of New Zealand motoring.
With over 7,500 Kiwi owners (and a million more worldwide) enjoying what’s become NZ’s favourite midsize SUV, Outlander has enabled families and fleets alike to enjoy total flexibility to use the vehicle just how they want.
Now, for 2013, comes the all-new third-generation Outlander, re-engineered to deliver a premium vehicle packed with technology to assist driving pleasure, passenger safety and fuel economy.
The new Outlander has plenty to get you thinking. For a start, it’s the first model ever designed, from the outset, for petrol and diesel engines and plug-in hybrid technology.
New Smart-MIVEC 2-litre and 2.4-litre petrol engines use up to 19 percent less fuel than current models. A super-smooth 2.2 litre diesel, with exceptional low-down torque, joins the line-up for the first time.
Current owners will find there’s been a revolution: everywhere you look there’s a new, soft-touch premium look and feel that will make the journey ever more relaxed.
Surprising extra space too. Outwardly the new Outlander carries the same dimensions as before. Nonetheless its designers have freed up extraordinary extra space: more room everywhere, especially for third row passengers, and when you fold down the rear seats you discover a bigger-than-ever 1.7m-long floor, with easy access from the power tailgate
There’s a new level of safety technology, automatically keeping you safely clear of the vehicle in front or braking to help avoid a collision. Inside, among key additions to the long feature list Outlander’s become renowned for is the extra comfort of dual-zone air conditioning and a rear view monitor system that’s integrated, along with satellite navigation, into the seven-inch touch screen audio panel.
A big chunk of Outlander’s appeal, of course, is its go-anywhere do-anything capability, and five of the six petrol or diesel-engined models have 4WD, electronically-controlled to give you full off-road confidence or, for daily use, an eco mode that shifts from two driven wheels to four when it senses the road getting slippery.
Watch for the new Outlander arriving soon in Mitsubishi showrooms from Kaitaia to Invercargill, ready to add outstanding motoring pleasure to the lives of thousands more Kiwi drivers.
